Ronaldo confirms Portugal's goal to defend the European Championship title Ronaldo, the Portuguese football star, has confirmed that his team will be defending their European Championship title this summer.
The 36-year-old forward made the announcement during a press conference ahead of the UEFA Nations League match against Spain on Tuesday night.
"Of course we want to win another European Championship," Ronaldo said. "We have been preparing for this moment for many years and I believe in us."
He added: "It's not just about me or my teammates, it's about the whole team working together as one unit.
"We have the talent and the experience to compete at the highest level and we're ready to fight for the championship."
Ronaldo is Portugal's all-time top goalscorer with 102 international goals and he is also the country's record international appearance-maker with 177 caps.
But he knows that winning the European Championship will be no easy task and he believes that his team-mates will play a key role in achieving their goal.
"I'm proud to be part of this team and I'm confident that we can achieve our goal," he said.
"It's going to be tough but I'm ready for the challenge."
